Overview

Chang Meng (b. Chengdu, China) is a transdisciplinary artist working across sensory boundaries through sound, moving image, and multi-material installation. Her practice focuses on themes of soundscape, anthropocentrism, spatiotemporality, and shared perception, through which she inhabits a position close to ecofeminism to examine the exploitation of nature and the dominant power dynamics between different positions. Using experiential art practices as a framework for long-term research and application, she seeks to imagine more inclusive and caring futures.

Collaboration plays a crucial role in her work. By establishing dynamic partnerships with scientists, musicians, choreographers, and movement artists, she combines their collective wisdom and creativity to conduct bold explorations. She excels at linking various art forms using an artist-led curatorial approach with the goal of fostering innovation in the arts.

Meng’s work has been recognized with the Best Creation for Climate Change award at BottleDream Festival (2024), the Best Experimental Design Award at Award 360° (2023), and as a Top Ten Installation at Dubai Design Week (2023) by AD Magazine. Her projects have been featured in Tate Etc. (Autumn 2023, Issue 59) and The European Times (Issue 617). Recent exhibitions include New Designers (2024), BottleDream Social Innovation Festival (2024), Dubai Design Week (2023), and the London Design Festival (2023). Selected projects include Epoch (2024), Oceanosmos (2023), presented at IKLECTIK Art Lab and St John’s on Bethnal Green, amd LING靈 (2023) as part of Fish Tank Festival of Contemporary Dance at The Place.
