Haffendi Anuar | Vivien Leigh Prize (Ashmolean Museum)

Vivien Leigh Prize, October 15, 2020

Congratulations to UK-based Malaysian artist Haffendi Anuar for winning the Ashmolean Museum art award: the Vivien Leigh Prize!

This award is linked to a bequest fund set up by the late actress to support young artists. It’s given for an outstanding work on paper to an artist from the Ruskin School of Art or the University of Oxford, and the work enters the museum’s collection. ‘Family Archive (Midday) II & III’, 2020, oil and archival ink on photographic paper, is from a multi-media project in which the artist explores the kain pelikat and Malaysian garment in relation to questions of national, cultural and personal identity while living in Oxford.
