Fiona Ones (b.1986, Germany) is a versatile artist working with photography and pointillistic needle drawings on paper.

Her stories are about perceiving reality and overcoming the white noise of everyday life. A collection of records, translated accounts of lived experiences.

Up close, one can’t help feeling the patience, and passage of time, represented in the creation of her artwork.

The repetitive dotting of her drawings combined with her journeys to places unfettered by humanity, are represented by works that are meditative reminders of our place in the natural world.

Struengmann studied photography and art at Parsons the New School for Design in New York and is currently working between Berlin and Munich.

Fiona is a versatile artist with a restrained design aesthetic that is best represented in her photographic works and drawings on paper.

From afar, her photography reads more as drawings; her pointillistic drawings as photography. Up close, one can’t help feeling the patience, and passage of time, represented in the creation of her work.

She constantly explores shifting boundaries within the photographic medium and finding a parallel to photography and drawing.

Using experimental techniques, her practice has evolved to challenge the engagement with our natural surrounding.

Surface, light, negative and positive and the trace; the sense of an invisible ‘apparatus’ (the camera, pen or needle).
