ai. is pleased to share that Weixin Quek Chong (b. 1988, Singapore) is part of 60/60: Singapore in Focus, a special community-driven exhibition organised by INSTINC to mark Singapore’s 60th year of independence. Bringing together sixty Singapore-based artists within a structured grid installation, the exhibition highlights the breadth of contemporary artistic practices in Singapore today.
In this presentation, Weixin Quek Chong introduces \phantomskin\ (2025), a work that explores the figure of the skin as a mediating surface between worlds. Drawing on mythologies such as the Qing dynasty tale "Painted Skin", the work considers shapeshifting, disguise, and the seductive allure of appearances.
