Woo Jin Joo | KCCUK New Gen: The Emerging Voices

Woo Jin Joo (b. 1995, Korea; living in London) will be participating at the Korean Cultural Centre UK - New Gen: The Emerging Voices.

The exhibition brings together eight emerging Korean artists who challenge and reinterpret what art means today. Spanning painting, sculpture, moving image, and installation, their works form a shifting terrain of ideas — fluid, complex, and alive with the rhythms of contemporary life.

From mythic memory to digital sensation, each artist transforms personal and collective experience into new visual languages. Their works reveal how stories, materials, and technologies continue to shape how we see and feel the world. Together, they form an evolving constellation of perspectives—bold, experimental, and unapologetically present.

Presented by the Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK) as part of its annual open call programme, NEW GEN celebrates the vitality of Korean artists working across the UK today. With insights from curators Daphne Chu (Ikon Gallery), Alvin Li (Tate Modern), and Yung Ma (Hayward Gallery), the exhibition offers a glimpse into the new energy driving Korea’s contemporary art scene.
