Choreographer Astrid Sweeney and visual artist Weixin Quek Chong are artists in residence during the festival Oktoberdans, through the network Nordic Residency Exhange Programme and in collaboration with Bergen Kunsthall. Here they will further develop the work ontogenesis dreams. The project is inspired by the molting processes of insects, queer ecologies and Octavia E. Butler’s science fiction trilogy Xenogenesis. Together, they explore the body’s impermanence through its relationship with an ambiguous organic material, delving into gestures of molting, peeling, and transformation. They will invite the audience into the process during the festival.
