I AM NOT WHAT YOU SEE presents the diverse artistic work of Danish-Filipino Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (born 1970) and sheds light on her persevering work on the themes of identity, ethnicity, gender, social relations and society. The HAM exhibition includes sculptures, performances and video works.
A series of new sculptures by Cuenca Rasmussen, titled I am not what you see and the related performance Cocktails form the focal point of the exhibition. The sculptures refer to movable dwellings and nomadic ways of life around the world as well as nomadic freedom and the transient nature of human identity. In the Cocktails performance, the hybrid nature of sculptures is revealed as they transform to performer’s costumes and set pieces.
The exhibition I AM NOT WHAT YOU SEE is complemented by Cuenca Rasmussen’s video performances dating from the 1990s to recent years.
