This photograph is of the wife and daughter of the owner of a coffee producer in the Yayu Biosphere, Ethiopia. Yayu is an important place as it has been proven to be the region that coffee originated in. All species of coffee from over the world can trace their beginnings to the area. The producers in Yayu still use natural irrigation and traditional non mechanised methods of producing their coffee cherries and beans. I had the pleasure of shooting in Yayu for Union Coffee and Kew Gardens who together with the Darwin Trust are working with locals to increase trade and reintroduce species of coffee to the area that have been lost due to deforestation.
