'touchedscreens' is a series of images in print that plays on the contrast of contemporary mass communication with the aesthetic of a much earlier form - that of the manually printed etching.

In this diptych, a window-like pairing references the aspirational symbolism of stock imagery with the transcendent chiaroscuro of rembrandt-era etchings and later mezzotints, their monotone portrayal of light carrying overtones of enlightenment and transformation. Stock imagery hands caress LCD-lit devices and hint at the spiritual flavour of transcendence that permeates their advertised allure.
